Contemporary extension in Hordle

In Spring 2018 Fitzgerald Architecture were approached by our client who sought to remodel the rear of their home to address the restrictions of an existing small kitchen and to improve their outside space. The rear extension that resulted has made it possible to create more space internally for a practical and functioning kitchen, reorganisation of the utility room and new dining area. While an open plan arrangement allows better use of the space for modern living it includes a wood burning stove becomes that becomes the focus of a new snug. Outside a glazed lean to provides a covered veranda and this together with a new patio provides improved opportunity to experience the outdoors. After obtaining the necessary planning and building regulations approvals the lead in time for the procurement of the oak frame resulted in construction during the winter of 2018 with occupation in Spring 2019.
